TEA TREE:
The Essential Oil of Tea tree is made from distilling the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, which is grown in Australia.
Captain Cook found it being used by the native aboriginals, and it was used during both world wars as “a medicine kit in a bottle.”
It is well respected for its naturally antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Tea tree has a refreshing, clean aroma that is popular with men and women. Undiluted, it can be used sparingly on intact skin and nails and there is low incidence of allergy. It is considered safe for use in patients with diabetes and can be diluted for use on children.
Its usefulness can be increased by blending with the Essential Oils of Lemon and Ravensara.

RESEARCH:
Investigations are taking place on the efficacy of Tea tree against a number of microbial agents. It seems to have have powerful antimicrobial properties in vitro against a wide variety of organisms associated with bacterial and fungal infections.

MARIGOLD FOOT CREAM
Made with the Essential Oil of the African Marigold flower (Tagetes minuta) blended into a rich hypo-allergenic cream. The oil has powerful antiseptic and anti-fungal properties making it ideal for soothing irritating foot conditions. The cream has an unusual aroma and mild yellow colour.
Apply daily for seven days, then as necessary. Avoid using on broken skin, and discontinue if skin becomes red or sore. This is a powerful oil that is best avoided in pregnancy, and not for use with children. |
